Expertise: South Asian history, Islamic studies, Comparative Religion, Gender and women’s studies, Medieval and early modern South Asian history and culture, Postcolonial studies, Secularism and religion in global contexts, Hagiography and saint studies, Border conflicts in South Asia, Persian, Sanskrit, and South Asian languages (Hindi, Urdu, Kashmiri)

  • Mellon Global Islamic Studies Brown University Exchange Fellow (Fall 2019)
  • Jacob K. Javits Fellowship, United States Department of Education (2008-13)
  • Pre-Doctoral Dissertation Research Fellowship, American Institute of Pakistan Studies (2011)
  • Multiple Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships
  • Multiple published book chapters and journal articles. Several works in progress, including book manuscripts and articles.
  • Numerous presentations at major conferences in his field, including the American Academy of Religion Annual Meeting and the Annual Conference on South Asia.
